Ethiopian Journalists Exposed Property Party’s Crimes

Temesgen Desalegne, Managing Director of Justice Magazine, who was arrested yesterday, and Misganan Zinabe, the magazine’s editor-in-chief, were released today. Journalist Temesgen Desalegn told our Addis Ababa correspondent, Yohannes Gebre-Egziabher, that the police had released him, “We will call you when we need you.”

Temesgen Desalegn, a journalist who had previously spent three years in prison, has completed his sentence.

Journalist Temesgen was arrested at the time for writing and publishing articles for Fiteh newspaper.

The charges against the journalist included false accusations, defamation, reporting and dissemination of false information, inciting public opinion, and inciting public revolt.

Temesgen was convicted of one charge and sentenced to three years in prison.
