In response to the protests, the government’s task force has been under scrutiny due to the repeated harassment of women, especially for a number of unidentified but often abused women.

One of the participants in the rally, Colonel Mekonnen Amare, told the Voice of America about the purpose of the demonstration: “The public has come out in protest, especially against women.”
